Many Catholics parishes would like to have a Passover Seder to learn much more about Christ’s Last Supper.
The Daughter of Zion Havurah, my little Hebrew Catholic team, is working on a Seder package that we believe will be ideal for most parishes. However, it will not be ready for the year 2005 celebrations.
For now, I recommend Roy Schoeman’s excellent A Passover Seder in the Light of Christ. This is the complete haggadah (script) for a parish Passover Seder. Probably it will be most convenient to download the pdf version.
Together with it, I recommend the Seder video that Ariela LeGendre and I made in 2003. The haggadah alone is enough for a parish team familiar with the Seder, but for those new to it the video will add a lot of depth.
And, of course, my book, Second Exodus, has a lot of background information that puts the Seder in perspective.
I recommend that the parish Seder team watch the video together while following along in the haggadah. Ariela and I mostly followed Roy’s haggadah, but not quite. There were a few explanations that we wanted to add. And we decided to omit some of Roy’s Catholic Scripture readings. There is an old saying in every Jewish community, “Two Jews, three opinions.”
