Some Personal Favorites

The big sites usually compile their lists of recommended sites by looking at other sites’ lists of recommended sites. The big sites, the ones with the most comprehensive resources, tend to get on all the lists. They are here as well, because they really are outstanding. Still, there are always small gems that get overlooked. These are my personal favorites.

Father Hardon Media is Father Hardon’s media organization. Father highly recommended the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. The best book and tapes on the subject, as well as the three home study courses, are by Father himself, available from Eternal Life, which distributes his writings and tapes, at (800) 842-2871. St. Ignatius’ own writing on the Spiritual Exercises in a translation by Rev. Elder Mullan is available on the web from EWTN. Also read Father Hardon on the Marian Catechist Writers Apostolate, the Marian Catechists' Father Hardon Page, and Inter Mirifica.

Dana, my favorite Catholic singer, won an international singing contest and went on to fame and fortune in Europe, then walked away from it to sing for Jesus in the United States. After serving as Ireland's representative in the European Parliament where she was the most pro-life member of all, I understand that she has moved back to the United States.

Crossroads Initiative, founded by Marcellino D’Ambrosio, offers catechetical and apologetics resources for RCIA, adult faith formation, and teens with a special emphasis on the Early Church Fathers, the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist, theology of the Body, and Catholic Bible Study.

Catholic Saints and Angels teaches us about the cloud of witnesses who are our covenant family. The Miraculous Medal was instrumental in the completion of Alphonse Ratisbonne.

The Shroud of Turin is the most important relic we have; in fact, the Shroud played an important part in my own completion. The Turin Shroud Center, run by my dear friends John and Rebecca Jackson, describes their center in Colorado Springs. John is one of the world’s leading Shroud physicists, and Rebecca is the world’s leading authority on first century Jewish burial practices. She’s also a Jew who became complete in the Catholic Church.

Catholics in the Military provides vital information and support to Catholic members of the armed forces. If you have a Catholic family member or friend in the U.S. armed forces, tell him about it.

Your Catholic Web has a wide range of good information, but I especially like the Eastern Rite info. The Eastern Rite churches have generally not changed their liturgies during the past thousand years or so, and therefore provide rich insights into the development of the early Church.

Jerome’s Pages on the Catholic Church and faith are well worth browsing. Of special interest to Second Exodus, Jerome’s Remarkable Conversions to Catholicism page has a wealth of information on great completion stories.

Finally, Peter and Paul Ministries is a potpourri of interesting Catholic stuff.
