Prayers of the Second Exodus Apostolate

Glory to God in the highest!

Holy Mother Church recommends that we constantly engage God in conversation. We should be quite comfortable conversing with God the way Tevye does in Fiddler on the Roof, in a relaxed informal way. Many Catholics find that a more structured prayer sequence helps them converse more comfortably with God. Jesus loves us as His covenant family, and is happy with our prayers either way. In fact, the Second Exodus Apostolate recommends both!

Prayer Request

The greatest prayer of the Church is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The second greatest is the Rosary. All faithful Catholics agree on those two, but after that it is a free-for-all, with each Catholic recommending his own favorites. These beloved prayers are highly recommended by the Second Exodus Apostolate for daily use. There are hundreds more. I would name the Liturgy of the Hours, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and St. Thomas Aquinas’ brilliantly succinct O Salutaris Hostia and Tantum Ergo. Most are offered in Latin as well as English because Latin is the language of the Catholic Church. However, those who prefer to pray in English will also find these prayers greatly helpful in daily life.

In addition, there is one private prayer here, the prayer that I pray every day during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, immediately after receiving Holy Communion. It is private only in the sense that I believe Jesus gave it to me. All are welcome to join me in this prayer, and to adapt it to their own state in life.
