On April 13, 2003, Marty Barrack went to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marshall, Texas, to conduct a Passover Seder for the congregation with Ariela LeGendre, an Israeli Jew baptized into the Catholic faith. About 150 people attended. Marty and Ariela explained the Jewish elements of the Seder, and also how Christ’s last Passover Seder became the first Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Marty and Ariela used Roy Schoeman’s Haggadah, A Passover Seder in the Light of Christ, (download in pdf format) available on the Association of Hebrew Catholics web site. We made some changes to clarify the events of the Seder, and celebrated it with joyful relish.
The event was professionally recorded using digital video. This video is particularly useful for priests preparing homilies on the Last Supper, for any Catholic interested in conducting a Passover Seder at his parish church, and for anyone who would like to know more about the Seder and its fulfillment in the Last Supper. With skillful editing by Ariela and the producer, the recording runs 1 hour and 8 minutes, and all the good stuff is there. Photos from the video.
| VHS tapes in full color sleeves are available at $20 each. DVD’s in full color sleeves are available at $25 each. Please add $5 for shipping, no matter how many copies of the tape and/or DVD you purchase. DVD’s are in DVD-R format. Some DVD players manufactured before 2001 may have difficulty reading them. The Association of Hebrew Catholics plans to stock this video, but will probably not have them in time for this year's parish Seders. Order it directly from: SSV
