The Catholic Church and Religious Freedom
Jesus, as He carried His Cross, told us, "If they do this when the wood is green, what will happen whey it is dry?" Lk 23:31.
The Democratic Party has declared war on the Catholic Church. The president is insisting that businesses associated with the Catholic Church must purchase for their employees health insurance that includes contraceptive and abortion services, even though the Church strenuously opposes these practices. Jesus "came that they might have life, and have it abundantly" Jn 10:10. Contraception prevents new life in a woman's womb. Abortion kills the child already in her womb.
The president says he is balancing the Church's religious freedom with the public's need for taxpayer-funded contraception and abortion services. He has already forced Catholics everywhere in the United States to pay taxes that go for contraception and abortion. Now he is trying to force the Church to directly support abortion through Catholic hospitals, Catholic schools, and other Catholic institutions. He says it is to assure the availability of contraception and abortion to all who want them. Do we know of anyone who is unable to find contraceptives at his local pharmacy? Do we know of anyone who is unable to find an abortion provider?
When the president comes to his senses and realizes that waging war against 35 million Catholic voters will abort his prospects for re-election in every one of the swing states he will look for a graceful way to declare a truce. But Jesus' rhetorical question will still hang in the air: "If they do this when the wood is green, what will happen whey it is dry?" Lk 23:31. If the Democrats do this during an election year, what will they do once they have safely re-elected the president and he will be under no further political constraints? When they ask us to forgive them, we will certainly forgive them but we will vote for the party friendly to us, not the one hostile to us. The hostile party might literally try to destroy the Church once and for all, and with it our prospects for eternal salvation.
Some will ask why we hold the entire Democratic Party responsbile, even though many Democrats oppose the president's initiative. The Democrats chose him as their candidate and voted by the tens of millions for him. Democrats who win Senate and House seats in November will vote with Harry Reid and Nany Pelosi, who rammed through ObamaCare and will do it all again for a Democratic president during his second term. A Democrat who wants to show me contrition and firm purpose of amendment can change parties and run as a Republican.
God bless you, dear friends, and take heart. Let us live so that, at the end of our earthly lives, we can stand before the living Christ and say that in the Church's hour of greatest need we stood with her and voted down those who threatend her.

Hi Second Exodus regulars. Exciting news! I'm working on a brand new Second Exodus web site to replace this 14 year old site. It will communicate the primary message of the Second Exodus Apostolate much more clearly and powerfully than this one does with a lot of new material and a simpler and more logical menu sytem. I'm all Catholic all the time, so the new site will, like this one, be absolutely consistent with the Magisterium. If there's something on this site that you particularly want to keep, may I encourage you to copy it onto your own computer for reference, provided you don't try to copyright it, put it up on the web, or sell it.
I'm thinking of uploading the new site sometime in early to mid 2012, well before it's finished, so I can see how what I've already done looks while I continue working on it. Please pray with me that the new site will serve the greater glory of God. And thank you for visiting. God bless you! ... Marty

The Second Exodus book is the primary source
of Second Exodus information. It contains more solid teaching
about the Catholic faith than this entire web site. However, I love
this Catholic faith so passionately that I have to share with you
much that was outside the book’s primary theme, the Israelite
heritage of the Catholic Church, or that was simply more Israelite
heritage material than I could fit into my self-imposed limit of 400
pages.
